HAIR TREATMENTS
A healthy scalp typically contains 100,000 to 200,000 hair follicles, and losing about 100-120 hairs per day due to washing and brushing is normal. In the normal hair growth cycle, each fallen hair is replaced by a new one.
WHAT CAUSES HAIR LOSS?
Hair loss is called alopecia. There are various reasons for hair loss, and some of these causes may occur together. Diet, vitamin and mineral deficiencies, genetic predisposition, hormonal factors, medication use, immune system diseases, malignancy, stress, and skin conditions in the scalp area can cause temporary or permanent hair loss. Conditions such as childbirth, diabetes, iron deficiency anemia, fungal infections, and autoimmune diseases like thyroid disorders can also contribute to hair loss.
MALE PATTERN HAIR LOSS
Hair loss caused by androgenic effects is called 'androgenetic alopecia.' It affects approximately half of men and about 25% of women. This ratio increases with age. Thinning and hair loss are typically observed at the top of the head. The hair in the crown area becomes thinner and more lifeless compared to the hair at the back and sides of the head.
HAIR LOSS IN WOMEN
The primary cause of hair loss in women is genetic factors. Hormonal changes associated with genetic predisposition can cause hair thinning and an increased tendency for hair loss. Women can experience male-pattern hair loss as well, though typically to a lesser degree. Approximately 25% of women experience this. Iron deficiency anemia, hormonal imbalances, stress, thyroid hormone issues, postpartum experiences, pregnancy, breastfeeding, menopause, and the use of birth control pills are periods in which hair loss can increase in women.
WHICH VITAMIN DEFICIENCY CAUSES HAIR LOSS?
Deficiencies in vitamins and minerals that affect hair structure, such as Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, folic acid, biotin, zinc, selenium, iodine, and iron, can lead to hair loss.
WHAT DO WE DO IN HAIR LOSS TREATMENT?
Hair loss treatment is determined based on the cause of the hair loss, the characteristics of the hair, and the type of hair loss. When a patient comes to our office with complaints of hair loss, we first take a detailed medical history. We check the patient's vitamin and mineral levels, then evaluate the hair follicles and scalp through a hair analysis. After the analysis, a personalized treatment plan is created based on the type and severity of the hair loss.
WHAT ARE THE HAIR TREATMENT METHODS?
Various treatment methods are applied for hair loss in our country and worldwide. The latest treatment methods include:
- Addressing Vitamin and Mineral Deficiencies: Supplements such as vitamins, minerals, amino acids, etc., are recommended to correct deficiencies and maintain them.
- Mesotherapy Application: Vitamins, amino acids, and peptides required by hair follicles and hair strands are injected into the scalp. This accelerates blood circulation in the area, nourishes the scalp and hair follicles, and stimulates hair growth.
- PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) Treatment: Platelets, which are rich in growth factors that enhance the body's self-healing ability, are obtained from the patient’s own blood and injected into the hair. This stimulates the cells.
- Autologous Micro Graft Hair Treatment: Hair follicles at the back of the neck and behind the ears are genetically programmed to remain resistant and healthy. Small tissue samples are taken from these areas, and the tissue is processed into a special super cell suspension rich in stem cells using advanced devices. The procedure is painless due to local anesthesia. This treatment generally requires one session, and the application lasts about 45 minutes.
- SVF Therapy: Fat is taken from the abdomen, processed, and a solution rich in mesenchymal stem cells (SVF solution) is obtained. This solution is injected into the problematic scalp. The treatment is typically done in one session.
- Exosome Therapy: Exosome therapy uses small vesicles called exosomes that are responsible for cell-to-cell communication. It supports various biological processes like cell repair, cell proliferation, and overall cell communication. Sessions usually range from 1 to 3.
- Home Care Products: We recommend hair-supportive and restorative supplements and shampoos for patients to use at home. We suggest using organic shampoos that are free from parabens, SLS, ethanol, silicone, and have a low sulfate content.
